A Place to Belong, Grow, and Make a Difference
Oasis St Martin's Village exists to transform the life-chances of children, who are struggling in or not attending mainstream education, by offering them and their families support and opportunity, contributing their unique gifts and nurturing possibility.
To achieve this, we work with and support local schools to do all we can to ensure that no child is excluded from their mainstream educational place.
We carry forward a powerful legacy. St Martin-in-the-Fields High School for Girls was opened back in 1699 - a radical act in a society where the vast majority of girls would have otherwise had no access to education and opportunity.
In July 2024, after 325 years, St Martin's school closed, and Oasis was asked to step in to ensure the continuation of the original vision of inclusion, within a 21st century context.
We believe that every child deserves the chance to thrive. But we also know that thriving children can only come from thriving communities. It takes more than a classroom to raise a child — it takes a village.

Creating a BetterCommunity for All
What happens when education grows beyond four walls into the heart of the village?
Oasis St Martin's Village is a partnership, led by Oasis, of local charities, community organisations and statutory agencies. We collaborate, in and from the Village, with a shared vision and mission.
Our commitment to this way of operating is reflected in our understanding of the holistic nature of the human experience and therefore of the integrated needs of the 'whole child', which are always greater than segregated, siloed, isolated or even co-located responses – education, physical health, relationships, self-image, nutrition, pastimes and hobbies, mental health, housing etc, that our culture tends to focus on.
New Opportunities
How does Oasis St Martin's serve children and young people
Oasis St Martin's provides a three-tier system of support for children, with a strong focus on early intervention, always working alongside their mainstream schools:
Our Vision
To transform the life-chances of children, who are struggling in or not attending mainstream education, by offering them and their families support and opportunity, contributing their unique gifts and nurturing possibility.
Our aim is that no child is excluded from their mainstream school. We seek to work with their school to make their education a pleasure by enriching it with art, music, drama, dance, film, catering, horticulture, sport and more, whilst not losing sight of numeracy and literacy.
To this end, learning around critical thinking, creativity, application, decision-making, teamwork and character development sits at the very heart of our work.
As Plutarch, the first-century Greek philosopher said: "Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire."
Our Mission
We exist to take on the challenges too many young people face: exclusion, absence, unmet special needs, and mental health struggles. Our mission is to provide support that's personal, flexible, and focused on the whole child.
All good learning is at core a therapeutic process. It promotes healing, hope, restoration, development and integration. Oasis St Martin's Village is intrinsically therapeutic in its very nature – everything from our edge-of-exclusion, edge-of-care, supplementary education to the diverse forms of mentoring and career pathways offered by our various Village Partner charities and organisations.
We work to support local schools, parents and families by creating the opportunity for children to explore their strengths and skills, and to develop their character through our range of creative activities tailored to meet their specific interests.
"If a child can't learn the way we teach, we should start teaching the way they learn."
What Makes Us Different
All Oasis work is driven by the passionate belief that each human is uniquely valuable and of equal importance. We call our badge - the 'O' in Oasis – our 'Circle of Inclusion'. Everyone matters. Everyone belongs. And because we're committed to inclusion, we're committed to ending inequality, injustice, and exclusion wherever and however we can.
Our work is grounded in radical inclusion. We believe every person holds unique worth regardless of background, behaviour, or circumstances. Everyone matters. Everyone belongs.
That's why we work alongside families, local services, and partners to build a nurturing ecosystem around each child, with an approach which combines education, community development, and social support in one integrated model.
