Who We Are

Oasis St Martin's Village is a partnership led by Oasis between local voluntary organisations, public services and children, young people and their families in the heart of Tulse Hill.

Our Community

Oasis St Martin's Village exists to transform the life-chances of children, who are struggling in or not attending mainstream education, by offering them and their families support and opportunity, contributing their unique gifts and nurturing possibility.

To achieve this, we work with and support local schools to do all we can to ensure that no child is excluded from their mainstream educational place.

We carry forward a powerful legacy. St Martin-in-the-Fields High School for Girls was opened back in 1699 - a radical act in a society where the vast majority of girls would have otherwise had no access to education and opportunity.

In July 2024, after 325 years, St Martin's school closed, and Oasis was asked to step in to ensure the continuation of the original vision of inclusion, within a 21st century context.

We believe that every child deserves the chance to thrive. But we also know that thriving children can only come from thriving communities. It takes more than a classroom to raise a child — it takes a village.

We exist to:

  • Reduce barriers to education
  • Create physical and mental healthcare access for vulnerable, excluded and persistent absent young people and their families
  • Create life-choices and future pathways into careers for children and young people at risk of exclusion
  • Reduce youth violence and crime
  • Strengthen community cohesion by embedding easy-to-access, tailored services at the heart of local community
  • Harness the dynamism and innovation of local civil society organisations

Our Mission

Oasis exists to help create a just and inclusive society where everyone can thrive. We believe that every person matters and that we all have a contribution to make.

"We work to create communities where everyone is included, making a contribution and reaching their full potential."

Oasis St Martin's Village is a space where this vision comes to life - a community workspace where people from all walks of life can connect, create, and collaborate. As part of the wider Oasis family, we're committed to creating inclusive spaces where everyone can thrive.

Our Values

Our Ethos

At the heart of Oasis is a deep-rooted and unwavering commitment to inclusion. We believe that everyone, regardless of their background, identity or circumstance, should be included in the benefits, resources and opportunities available to all.

Our ethos is shaped by our commitment to five core values that inform everything we do. These values guide our approach to creating community spaces like The Village, where everyone can feel welcome, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.

Our 9 Habits

Our 9 Habits are the behaviours through which we aim to reflect our ethos.

These habits form our organisational behaviours. They are lived out every day in who we are, and how we behave towards each other.

In all our work we encourage each other to keep on becoming the best version of ourselves through living out the 9 Habits; they are our organisational DNA and present through all our work from our philosophy and policies to our practice and everyday interactions.
